My parents are in their late eighties and sometimes I think my kids like them more than my husband and I. They never have to discipline and always show up with goodies that are usually forbidden on a daily basis. Yet, one weekend when they were visiting, my twin boys got into an argument over the goodies and my parents took them away. In an instant we heard, “You’re a mean granny,” and I knew my parents’ halo vanished as fast as those goodies.
